Walter R. Abbott, Sr. passed away April 20th at the age of 97. A former Belmont resident and longtime Arlington resident, Walter was the beloved husband of the late Frances J. (Kelley) Abbott. Loving father of Ruth Abbott and her husband Pat Fitzgerald of Portland, OR, Walter Abbott of Arlington, David Abbott and his wife Denise of Avon, Matthew Abbott and his wife Beth of Maryland and Mark Abbott of South Boston. Dear "Pa" of Kelley, Amy, Elizabeth, Daniel, Madison and Hadley. Predeceased by his siblings; Richard, Frank, Eugenia Duryea, Flora, Ruth Levins and Shirley Myers.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday April 27 at 5:00 p.m. at Park Avenue Congregation Church 50 Paul Revere Rd.. Arlington, MA. A gathering of family and friends will follow at a reception to honor Walter's life. PAST MASTER of the Belmont Lodge of MASONS and longtime employee of the Boston Globe Teamsters Local 259.
