Shannon, Thomas G., of Arlington, passed away on January 17. Beloved husband of the late Thelma A. (Edgar) and loving father of Lois of Arlington, Thomas G. of Somerville, Kathleen of Arlington and Karol of Mill Hall, PA. Thomas is survived by his two granddaughters, Alayna and Nyla. Brother of Carol Sloan of Carlisle, PA; and the late Paul W. and Mary E. Tom served in the US Army’s 39th Signal Battalion in Europe during WWII. At 18, he was employed by the New England Telephone & Telegraph Co., where he met the love of his life, Thelma. They married shortly after his return from the War in 1946, making their home in Arlington. Tom continued working for the telephone company, through all its reorganizations, retiring after 50 years to live the good life. A little restless with that, Tom took a position--again with the telephone company--working part-time at their systems at Massachusetts General Hospital. Finally retiring again at 75. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave., Arlington, on Friday morning at 9:00, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 10:00. All attendees are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and pay their respects and exit the Funeral Home promptly to allow other guests to enter.
