Fratello, Shirley C. (Donegan) of Arlington, passed away peacefully on February 19th, surrounded by the love of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin A. Fratello. Shirley was born in Somerville, MA on April 1st, 1928 to John Donegan and Lovina Desjardins and graduated from Somerville High School in 1946. Family was at the core of Shirley’s life and she was the loving mother of James Fratello (Claire Hannafin), Barbara Duggan (George), Kathryn Leva (Frank Olson), and Stephen Fratello (Valerie). She was also the proud grandmother of Jay Fratello (Rebecca), Nicholas Fratello (Lori), Alex Duggan (Alix), Greg Duggan (Melissa Egdorf), Billy Leva (Sarah Mahon), Christine Leva, Mark Duggan, Anna Fratello, and Benjamin Fratello. She was also the extremely proud great grandmother of Tristan, Addison, Brooklyn, Iris, and Madigan. She is also survived by her special nephew Paul Simeone (Carol) and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends. After her children were grown, Shirley surprised everyone and re-entered the work force and joined Lechmere Sales in Framingham, where she became one of the patient faces behind the customer service counter for many years. She was a member of St. Camillus Church where she will be remembered for her volunteering and cooking. She was also a former member of the Arlington Garden Club and Lexington Field and Garden Club. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 22nd at DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass Ave., ARLINGTON. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 23rd at 10:00 at St. Camillus Church, Route 2, Arlington. Please go directly to church. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
