In Our Care
Richard Taylor Moore, 86, formerly of Reno, NV, passed away on January 8, 2022 at Brightview Senior Living in Woburn, Massachusetts.
He was born in Ogden, Utah on May 16, 1935 to John Bennett Moore and Dorothy Nellie Taylor Moore. He attended Ogden High School, Weber College, and the University of Utah. He went on to attend medical school at Washington University in St. Louis. He completed residencies in internal medicine at the University of Utah and in ophthalmology at the University of Iowa.
While working as a medical intern at the VA hospital in Salt Lake City, he met Julie Alice Coles. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on February 15, 1965.
In 1970 they moved to Reno, Nevada where Dick joined the ophthalmology practice that became Sierra Eye Associates. He worked there until he retired in 2000.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a leader and teacher in his congregation. He supported his wife and children in their every endeavor (even the ones he thought might not work out). He valued education and learning and encouraged family and friends in their educational pursuits. He loved music and the arts and was known for his kindness and generosity with his patients, neighbors, and anyone he interacted with.
Dick is survived by his wife, Julie Coles Moore, his sons, Christopher (Margaret) Moore of Arlington, MA and Doug (Ellie) Moore, of Reno, NV, his brother David (Linda) Moore of Salt Lake City, UT, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Bennet Moore, Jr.
A private family service is planned. Please visit devitofuneralhome.com to view an online guestbook.
