Long time Arlington resident Peter P. Messuri passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family on May 29, 2022 at age 94. Born on Jan. 2, 1928 in Cambridge, one of six children of Michael and Anna (Della Cioppa) Messuri. Peter grew up in Cambridge, graduated from Cambridge Rindge Tech in 1946 where he enjoyed a stellar High School hockey career. Peter served in the US Army WWII. Upon his discharge he returned home and went to work at the family owned Federal Market, known as Messuri Market in Cambridge.He met the love of his life on a blind date, Barbara Oliver. They married on June 14, 1952, bought their forever home in 1956 and started their family of eight children. He was an avid golfer giving advice to his children. He was an avid sports fan. Peter's biggest joy in life was spending time with his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren be it at a family get together or vacation in Aruba, Maine, Vermont or Cape Cod. He enjoyed spending winters with Barbara in Florida staying with his son Robert and family. Peter was a man of deep Christian religious faith and attended Mass regularly. When unable to attend he enjoyed watching Mass on the Catholic TV Channel. Peter's loving, warmth, fellowship and caring of others will be missed by all.

Peter is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Oliver) with whom he shared 70 beautiful years of marriage. Loving father of Paul and wife Laura of Nashua, NH, Robert and wife Dawn of Ft. Myers,FL, Linda Lauziere and husband Richard of Woburn, Michael and wife Roberta of Natick, Donna Barbosa and husband Harry of Chelmsford, Carol Roderick and husband Eric of Melrose, Tricia Pengeroth and husband Phil of Acton and Jean O'Neill and husband Paul of Arlington. Beloved grandfather of seventeen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and his late grandson Jason Lauziere. Brother of Anthony Messuri and his wife of Arlington and the late Phyllis, Gilda, Augustine and Mary and cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home at 1145 Mass. Ave., ARLINGTON on Friday 3 - 7 pm and to his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11:30 am in St. Camillus Church.
