In Our Care

Myra Joyce Fournier (nee Woods), age 76 died peacefully on May 5, 2023. She was the daughter of Egon Woods (nee Klappholz) and Irene Woods Hofstein (nee Schlesinger), both Holocaust survivors. Myra had an eclectic career as a teacher, guidance counselor, writer, and human resources professional. In her earlier years, her passions included competitive tennis and remote volunteering for the North American Bear Center in Ely, MN. She was a lifelong learner and an adventure traveler. She boasted proudly that she had visited all seven continents. In later years, Myra pursued genealogy, through which she uncovered and connected with numerous previously unknown relatives. She was pleased to help others find their roots as well. Myra also contributed her time to numerous social and political causes. Myra leaves her sister, Sylvia (Bunny) Weitz of San Diego, former husbands Yves Fournier and Jeff Spin, and much-loved nieces, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a brief burial service on June 17th at 10:00 am at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge and to a gathering following the burial, to share memories of Myra, within the cemetery grounds. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Myra to St. Jude Children's Hospital at stjude.org.
