In Our Care

Mary Esther (Fitzgerald) O'Reilly of Waltham, while surrounded by adoring family members, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle on Wednesday, March 15, 2023. Mary was 76 years of age.
Mary is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of over 31 years, James Anthony O'Reilly
of Newton. Mary also leaves behind her sons David Scott Perry and wife Joanne of
Marlborough, James Joseph Perry, and wife Donna of Holliston, Scott Fitzgerald Perry and
wife Heather of Waltham. Mary was also a wonderful and caring stepmother and dearly loved
her stepchildren, Kelly Ann (O'Reilly) O'Byrne and her husband Rod of Belmont, Kristen
(O'Reilly) Fitzgerald and her husband Gregg of Newton, and James Michael O'Reilly and his
wife Erin of Wellesley.

Mary was born on November 6, 1946, the fourth of six children born to John Allison Fitzgerald
and Ann Patricia (Scannell) Fitzgerald of Somerville, MA. She is survived by her older brother Walter Fitzgerald and wife Diane of Methuen, and younger sister Julie (Fitzgerald) Carr and her husband Mark of Salem. She is predeceased by her first love and husband, George J. Perry, her sisters, Nancy Driscoll, Kathy Goldy and Joan Demeo. She was truly loved by all of her family, as well as many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and long-time friends.
She had many friends from her time spent at Waltham District Court. Mary supervised the civil
court and had many beloved colleagues.
Mary could be described as selfless and was always putting family and friends above even
herself. She took great pleasure in watching the many accomplishments of her grandchildren,
Cameron, Shane, Tyler, Kyle, Derek, Jack, Dylan, Laney, Ryan, Sean, Reilly, Julia, MacKenna and
Tripp.

Mary enjoyed travel, gorgeous weather and the charming landscape of her Bradenton, FL
home. Most of all, she valued family and friends and all of the small, beautiful moments life
had to offer, and, of course, watching her cherished Boston Bruins. She will be sorely missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the DeVito Funeral Home, 761 Mt. Auburn Street,
Watertown, MA on Monday, March 20, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and to her Funeral Mass on
Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Our Lady's Comforter of the Afflicted, 920 Trapelo Rd, Waltham,
MA at 10:00 am. All are welcome go directly to the church.
