In Our Care

With deep sorrow, the Ricoy and Martinez families announce the peaceful passing of Maria Teresa Ricoy, 55, of Somerville, Massachusetts, on October 31st, 2023. Teresa was a loving and devoted wife of Edmundo Ricoy, mother of two children, Anastasia Ricoy and Daniel Edmundo Ricoy, sister of Soledad Martinez, Alejandra Rojo, Juan Carlos Martinez, and sister-in-law to Lina Martinez and Margarita Ricoy. She also leaves behind 12 nieces and nephews and 20 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Blanca Rojo, and father, Jose Rojo.

Teresa was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 25, 1967, to Blanca and Jose Rojo. Teresa loved the arts, theater, and classical music; The Four Seasons by Vivaldi was among her favorite pieces. As a child, she worked hard at every endeavor and earned the respect of her peers. At the age of 11, Teresa immigrated to the United States, a country she loved and called home for more than 40 years. She attended East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, and University of Utah where she studied economics, continuing on to Boston University where she received her Master's in Finance and Economics. Teresa spent much of her professional life at the Federal Reserve Bank where she was a valued relationship manager and business analyst.

Teresa enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, sewing, jogging and running marathons, and putting on summer barbecues with her neighbors. She could always be counted on to make the holidays special by sharing delicious meals with family and friends. Her greatest love, though, was her children. Teresa was committed and selfless in the service of her family.

Outside her family, too, Teresa will be remembered as unconditionally giving, volunteering her time with the United Way to raise money for children with terminal illnesses, and at her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she was a primary teacher. Wherever she went, Teresa demonstrated compassion, dedication, and love, traits that inspired lifelong cherished friendships. The loss of her smile, her warmth, and her heartfelt affection will be felt for years to come.

We love you Teresa and will miss you.
Te queremos, te honraremos y desde ya te vamos a extrañar.
