In Our Care

Maria E. Re (Toscano) of Arlington passed away on Dec. 27, 2016 after a long illness. Beloved wife of the late Aldo P. Re; dear sister of Bobby Toscano of Providence, RI, Gloria Savard of Derry, NH and the late Edmund Toscano, Inez Delia, Philip Toscano, Leo Toscano and Geno Toscano. Maria is also survived by her 12 nieces and nephews, 22 grand nieces and nephews, 5 great grand nieces and nephews, 4 step children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Maria worked in the accounting/payroll department at Massachusetts Institute of Technology for 30 years.

Maria was dedicated to her husband, family, friends, faith, and her work. You could count on Maria being in attendance to all family gatherings enjoying the occasion with nervous energy telling stories and expressing her views and emotions. How many times did we hear her say "Oh Jesus, Mary, and Joseph." It was her joy to shop for grandchildren and attend their birthdays and special occasions. In August you could always count on Maria and Aldo going on vacation in the same town and same motel in New Hampshire. They enjoyed going to the theater and concerts. Maria who never drove a car was the "expert" telling her driver how to drive and the best way to get there. She was the quintessential definition of "back seat driver". Not having any children of her own, she loved spending time with her many nieces and nephews. Auntie Maria was very special and will truly be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday Jan. 2, 2017 from 2-4 pm at the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave., Arlington.
