In Our Care

Lorraine J. (Zani) Jones, of Arlington, passed away on February 17, 2023 at the age of 94. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert P. Jones, of Arlington. She was also the loving companion of the late William Gannon, of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire. She was the dear mother of Stephen J. Jones and his life partner Blaise Mauro of Naples, Florida, the late Michael W. Jones of Yarmouth, Elisa Saccardo of West Dennis, the late Holly (Cronin) Jones of Yarmouth, Susan M. (Jones) Casey and her husband James D. Sr. of Arlington, Timothy J. Jones of Chillicothe, Illinois, Margaret A. (Jones) Allegretto of Burlington, Robert S. Allegretto of North Andover, and Daniel P. Jones and his wife Patricia of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire.

Lorraine was the adored grandmother of Andrew Jones, David Jones, Kerry (Casey) Fagan and her husband James, James Casey, Jr. and his wife Lisa, John Casey and his fiancee Taylor Ouellette, Joseph Jones and his fiancee Jessica, Alicia Jones, Christopher Jones, John Allegretto, and Laura (Allegretto) Bonelli and her husband Matthew. She was also the loving great-grandmother of Grace, Ryan and Colin Fagan, Kinsley and Kailey Casey, and Jordan LeBlanc. All of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and pretty much everyone who knew her well, lovingly called her "Ma".

Lorraine was born and raised in Medford to her late parents Guido and Eva (Madore) Zani. She was the sister of Virginia (Zani) Poirier, of Naples, Florida. She graduated from Medford High School and had a short career in bookkeeping. She met her future husband Al when roller skating at the Bal-a-roue in Medford. They married in 1949 and eventually settled in Arlington where they raised six wonderful children. Her life centered around her cherished family. Lorraine adored all animals, especially cats, and had many as a pet throughout her life.

Lorraine kept an immaculate household, and made a wonderful home for her family where everyone was welcome. She was an incredible mother who loved to knit and crochet, but her greatest passion was cooking. Ma was extremely proud of her Italian heritage, and making "gravy" and homemade ravioli was an annual tradition.

Lorraine's absolute favorite vacation destination was Franconia Notch in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She always said the air smelled better there. Lorraine's all time favorite movie was "The Godfather". One of her favorite scenes is when The Godfather brings a beautiful single pear home to his wife. Ma's family and friends will lovingly remember her for her genuine and caring heart, and the kindness and thoughtfulness that she shared with all those her life touched.
