In Our Care

Ciano, Lesley of Boston, MA and Canterbury, NH (Born in England and raised in Montreal, Canada) passed away on Friday May 19th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Lesley was born in England on December 22, 1943 to Hubert and Beryl Tompkins. She departed England with her mother in 1945 to escape the bombing during WWII for Canada on a Red Cross ship. She grew up in Montreal, Canada near her paternal family and moved to Boston MA in her early 20's. She married John A Ciano in August 1971 at Boston Copley Plaza and remained happily married with him.

Lesley was a proud and loving mother to her daughters Stephanie Ciano and Kimberly Cassello (Ciano) as well as her step children Lynda Federoff (predeceased), Diane Ciano, and Jack Ciano. She was the most beloved wife of John Ciano for 52 years. She was a loving and doting grandmother to her grandchildren: John Michael Ciano (predeceased), Michael Ciano, Tara Federoff, Chris Ciano, Charlotte Pace, Olivia Pace, Natalie Cassello, and Nick Cassello. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Lesley was a genuine, thoughtful, and generous friend and made many life-long friendships. She was proud of her 52 year marriage to John Ciano built on love and mutual respect. She was a dress buyer, clothing designer from Boston School of Fashion Design, and avidly into home décor and gardening. She was the biggest supporter of her husband, children, and grandchildren and encouraged them to be strong and their authentic and best versions of themselves. She was a fierce advocate for women's rights in her quiet way and extremely intelligent, well read, cultured, and well traveled. She was a modest behind the scenes person that put others before herself. She was a lover of the arts and learning about different cultures. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family and will be held forever in our hearts.

A Service will be held at the Bigelow Chapel of Mount Auburn Cemetery at 11am on May 24th for family and close friends only. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you can make a donation to rosiesplace.org; a Women and Children's shelter in Boston in Lesley's memory.
