John M. Whitney of Arlington on Dec. 31, 2021 at age 82. Son of the late Philip and Eunice Whitney. Beloved husband of Anne M. (Nolan) Whitney and loving father of the late David J. Whitney, Carole and John DeVito and Pamela and James Vershbow. John was the dear "Grampy" of Johnny and Laura DeVito, Whitney and John Bowler, Kelly DeVito and Richard Auterio, Patrick and Abigail Vershbow and great grampy of Nolan, Riley, Josh, Ryan, and Jack. Brother of Susan Doherty, Phil Whitney, Melissa Goddard, Jeanie Hackley and the late Peter Whitney and Kathleen Hogan. Brother in law of Anne Whitney, Donald Doherty, Charles Goddard, John Hogan and the late Richard Hackley; also survived by his loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and Friends are invited to gather on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the DeVito Funeral Home 1145 Mass. Ave., Arlington and to John's Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00 am in St. Eulalia Church, Winchester. Please go directly to church. Interment is private.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Fraxa Research Foundation (FRAXA.ORG) which the Whitney family whole heartily supports in honor of John's grandson Patrick.
