John Shepard Gell of Watertown, MA passed away on January 20, 2020 at the age of 91. Son of the Late William and Florence Gell. Beloved husband of the late Doris M. ( Nichalas ) Gell. John was a Veteran of the Koran War and retiree of the US Postal Service and graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon High School in Gill, MA. John was an avid chess player in the Harvard Sq. Park in Cambridge, MA and a dedicated reader of the Boston Globe and listener of 89.7 WGBH Boston Public Radio and a big fan of American singer Lead Belly.

John is survived by his family and friends who will gather to celebrate his life on Saturday February 15, 2020 from 1 to 4 p.m. at his longtime Watertown residence: 29 Merrifield Ave Watertown, MA.
