In Our Care

Joan Ardelle Cameron Greene, 94, of Lexington, MA passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born in Arlington, MA on July 27, 1929, to Franklin and Rose Bailey Cameron. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1947 and began her career in bookkeeping at Boston Clip and Tag.  She continued her bookkeeping career for over 50 years working in multiple industries and retired from Dearborn Academy, Schools for Children in Arlington, MA at the age of 81 in 2010.

Joan was introduced to Roland Greene on a blind date arranged by her best friend Dot Robertson (Thompson) in 1951. They quickly fell for one another and were married on June 20, 1952. She and Roland moved to Bedford, MA to start a family.  It was in Bedford where their three children Thomas, Susan, and Bonnie lived before relocating to Norwalk, Connecticut. In June of 1972, Roland passed away suddenly. Within a few years, Joan moved her family back to Lexington, MA where she continued raising them and watched as they each began their own families.

Joan loved her family, seafood, the beach, gardening, birdwatching and being the life of a party. She grew to be the strong-willed matriarch of the family and could always make everyone laugh without trying. Even as her mobility waned, her favorite place to sit was at the kitchen table, watching the comings and goings in the household.  She will be remembered by all of those who met her and will be welcomed home by those who left before her.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband Roland Greene and her brother Franklin Cameron. She is survived by her sister Joyce Radochia and brother-in-law Robert, of Arlington, MA; her children and their partners Thomas and Nancy Greene of Encinitas, CA; Susan and Arturo Vega of Lexington, MA and Bonnie Lombardo and Michael Degulis of Reading, MA, as well as her six grandchildren Roland, Cameron, Rosa, Angela, Timothy, and Mark, and great granddaughter Morgan Joan Greene. She will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews throughout the US and Ireland.
