Mrs. Joan Josephine Calley, age 92 , passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022. She was born April 2, 1930 in Boston, Massachusetts to John and Helene Mund Connors.

Mrs. Calley was a resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. She was Catholic by faith. She was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she also attended Catholic School. She married John J. Calley. John and Joan raised their three children in Belmont, MA. Joan took great joy in raising her family and being a home maker. She was an accomplished seamstress and baker. She loved poetry and even wrote some of her own. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, animals, birds and butterflies.

Her husband, children and six sisters where her whole world. A few years after John’s passing in 1989, Joan moved to Grayson, Georgia to be close to her daughter and son-in-law. She maintained her own residence for 11 years with her sweet little dog, Molly, then moved in with Julianne and Arthur in 2012 and remained with them until her passing.

Joan was so loved and will always be remembered for her grace, caring personality and loving devotion to her family.

Mrs. Calley was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, John J. Calley.

Mrs. Calley was survived by her children, John J. Calley, Jr. of Gloucester, MA, Susan B. Peters of San Diego, California and Julianne M. Bagley of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Greg Peters and Blake Peters both of San Diego, California and siblings Alice Gaudette and Marianne Donahue.

Catholic Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 4, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church; 130 Common Street, Belmont, MA 02478. Interment to follow at Belmont Cemetery.
