Bernsee, Joan P., 85, of Arlington, formerly of Lexington, died peacefully on March 23, 2018 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her children. She was the loving mother of Leah (Jon Hart), Maureen (Bill Rockett), Brice (Sarah Murphy), and Diana (Joe Chabot). Cherished grandmother “Gram” of Matthew, Carson, Fiona, Grace, Connor, Declan, Brin, Owen, Benjamin, and Austin. Joan is survived by her sister Claire, her brother Robert and his wife Marie, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brothers John and Dan and her sister Dorothy. Joan worked at RCA and The Mitre Corporation for many years, and was an active volunteer in her community. A graduate of Northeastern University, she was a life long learner and enjoyed participating in book clubs, attending the symphony, and visiting art museums. Joan loved spending time with her family, engaging in lively discussions about politics, sports, and literature. Joan’s courage and strength, her deep faith, and life philosophy of love and acceptance was an inspiration to her children, her grandchildren and everyone who knew her. Her funeral mass will be at 10 am on Wednesday, March 28 at St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester, MA. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown, MA. Visiting hours will be held on March 28 from 8:30 to 9:30 am at DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave., Arlington, MA.
