After 4 years fighting Pancreatic Cancer with determination and courage, Dr. Jiping Cheng passed away peacefully in the evening of March 8, 2021. He was 64. Dr. Cheng was surrounded and supported by his loving family and friends in the last day at his bedside.

Jiping was born in ChongQing, China on Oct. 18,1956. In 1977, he entered Peking University, majoring in Physics. In Jan. 1983, he became one of the honorable recipients of the prestigious CUSPEA program to US. After receiving PhD degree in 1989 from SUNY Buffalo, he worked as a post-doctor in the same laboratory for 2 years. He moved to Boston in 1992, worked at MIT as a research fellow for 3 years, then became an IT professional for more than 10 years. He then served as the CEO of two family dental businesses until last days.

In 1987 Jiping married his beloved wife Dr. Rose Li Wang. They've spent over 30 happy years together ever since.

Jiping had lived a successful life highlighted by his social activities and achievements. He was a leader in various social organizations of the Chinese community. Multi-talented with interests across many areas, especially in Music, Sports, Travel, and so on. Jiping had made tremendous contributions to the community, establishing friendship with hundreds and thousands of people along the way. He was deeply beloved and sorely missed by all his friends around the world.

Dr. Cheng is survived by his wife Dr. Rose Li Wang, son Matthew J. Cheng, daughter Jessica S. Cheng, mother Banghua Ji, as well as brother Minxian Cheng and sister Yonghua Cheng.
