In Our Care
Jeffrey William Jason II (“Jeff”) passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, February 6th, 2022 at Mount Auburn Hospital. Jeff was born on December 5th, 1982, in New Bedford Massachusetts. He graduated from Fairhaven High School in 2000 where he excelled in several sports, particularly Track and Field, in which he placed second in New England in shot put and broke the school record twice, as well as the discus school record. Jeff still holds these records today. Jeff then attended UMass Amherst, where he continued to compete on the track team while earning degrees in mathematics, computer science, and political science. During his time at UMass, Jeff obtained his CDL and drove for UMass Transit where he made many lifelong friends. Upon his graduation from college, Jeff was hired at athenahealth in Watertown. His determination, leadership, and know-how helped him to achieve his professional goals. He was eventually promoted to Executive Director Engineering, a position he was honored to hold. Jeff was truly one of a kind and had many hobbies, including photography, cooking, gardening, and weightlifting. He was also an avid musician and lifelong learner, especially in fields such as business and economics. At 6’3, Jeff was a huge Boston sports fan in more ways than one, and especially loved cheering on the Patriots and Red Sox. To know Jeff was to admire his big heart, sense of humor, and unwavering candor. He was always up for a conversation or a good debate. His loved ones will never forget his laughs, his hugs, and his ability to talk intellectually about nearly any topic. He is survived by his children, Violet, Nathaniel, and Ruby; their mother and his former wife, Vanessa; his sister, Jaymi-Lyn Souza, his brother, Matthew Horzesky; his mother, Sophie Horzesky, his father, Jeffrey Jason; his stepfather Jim Souza; as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who he considered to be members of his chosen family. His services will be held on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:00PM at Devito Funeral Home 761 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown, Massachusetts.
