August 28, 1934 - August 25, 2022
Our beloved sister, Iris Speros, of Arlington passed away suddenly on August 25th at Care One Rehab facility, Lexington, MA. One of twelve children of the late Thomas and Julia (Sgouros) Speros of Cambridge, MA. Survived by two sisters Antonia Kourepinos of Garden City, NY, Constantina Katsos, Arlington, MA and two brothers Anthony T. Speros and Despina, Arlington, MA, Nicholas T. Speros and Patricia, Burlington, MA, sister-in-law Frederika Speros, Winchester, MA. Predeceased by
sisters Elaine Papas, Arlington, MA, Bessie Stavropoulos, Austin,TX, Katherine Chagaris, Hampton, NH, Anastasia Tsaltas, Danvers, MA, brothers Arthur T. Speros, Arlington, MA George T. Speros, El Cajon, CA and James T. Speros, Woburn, MA.
Iris sang her way through life with one of her God-given gifts, her soprano voice (the second, being friendliness), as though not a care in the world, yet, her cares were many. At age twenty, with the early passing of our parents, Iris became the "substitute mom" for the younger siblings. She became the in-charge family member. Took care of herself and everyone else, grew to be independent, became everyone's friend and everyone became her family, caring, helpful, kind, grateful. For twenty plus years, she was employed by Northeastern University as administrative assistant for five plus professors. She loved life, loved music (opera, classical, Greek), loved people, and mostly loved family, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, friends, church, choir, Greek heritage and strong faith. Thank you beautiful sister Iris for being there for and with us. Eternal be your memory... PEACE, sweet angel.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit Thursday September 1st from 9:00 to 10:00 am in St. Athanasius the Great Greek Orthodox Church with a Funeral Service to commence at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
