Gabriela (Bacares) Oppen, 36, of Watertown, entered this world on April 8, 1983 and left it on Sunday, June 16, 2019 leaving it a better place than when she entered. Beloved wife of Robert Oppen and daughter of Elizabeth Bacares and the late Guillermo Bacares of Queens, New York.
Born in Colombia, and raised in New York, she moved to Massachusetts for college where she met her soulmate, Robert. She and Robert shared a loving home and life for 15 years. Gabriela was a beautiful, selfless, and nurturing individual that always gave out more love than she took. She loved her family, friends, the students and staff of Harvard University where she worked, and her beloved fur baby Cooper. Gabriela is survived by her siblings, Maria, Cesar, and Ruben.
Visitation will be held at 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 21, at DeVito Funeral Home, 761 Mount Auburn Street, Watertown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Furever Dachshund Rescue, which is where Cooper was adopted from.
