In Our Care

Franklin Gingrande, 76, of Arlington, MA, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023 at Aberjona Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Winchester, MA. He was born on January 07, 1947, in Newburyport and grew up in Boxford, MA. Franklin was predeceased by his parents Louise (Blakely) Gingrande and Arthur Gingrande.

Frank was a former Peace Corp volunteer in Sierra Leone West Africa where he met his wife Aminata Ju Saffa Gingrande. Frank was an avid year-round scuba diver.
Frank had a passion for teaching and for 30 years he taught at the Beacon High School; a therapeutic coed school currently located in Watertown. His colleagues have many fond memories of him and upon hearing of his death they shared some wonderful notes about their time together. One of his mentors wrote that "He is the epitome of integrity. There are a few memories and stories of Frank that have gotten into my books, my articles, and in my workshops. I learned much from his patience, humility, and dedication to our students". Another teacher wrote "His loyalty to the school, his dedication to the students and to our programs was unfailingly thoughtful, earnest, and honest. I am certain that students who studied with Frank are still telling friends about that experience". One of the social workers wrote "Frank's passion for diving, philosophy, English and critical thinking were inspiring for so many of us. He has left a unique and wonderful mark on this world and on the lives of so many of his students and colleagues, myself included".

In addition to his wife Aminata, Franklin is survived by his daughters, Christina, Mahawa, and Abigail Gingrande; his sister, Barbara Gingrande and her wife Elaine Otte; his brother, Arthur Gingrande and his wife Andrea Graff Gingrande; his nephew, Aaron Gingrande and his wife Maxine Kantor; his grandchildren, Elijah, Eva and Elliott; and his grandnephew Abraham.
