In Our Care
DYKEMAN, Frances A. (Chenell) Of Burlington, formerly of Arlington, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 12th, 2021. Beloved wife of the late George O. Dykeman. Loving mother of Jean Golding and her husband Andrew. Dear grandmother of David and Michaela Golding of Burlington. Aunt of Donald Callahan and his wife Sue (Devarenne), Michael Callahan and his wife Sue, the late David Dykeman and his wife Pat (Keaveney), the late Jack Dykeman and his former wife Barbara (Decowski), and Barbara (Callahan) Briggs and her husband Steve. Sister of the late Barbara (Chenell) Callahan. Also survived by many loving great and great-great-nephews and nieces, with whom she was very close.
Fran will be warmly remembered for her fun-loving personality, thoughtfulness, loyalty, generosity and her charitable nature. In her almost 93 years of life, she raised thousands of dollars for the Jimmy Fund, never accepting a gift in return for her frequent donations. She was well known in her close-knit neighborhood and her social group—affectionately known as “Club”— as the consummate hostess, and her warm nature made her house feel like home to so many. When a neighbor or friend was having a bad day, they could expect Fran at their doorstep, bolstering a smile and one of her famous chicken pies or a colossal pot of her one-of-a-kind clam chowder. Fran was a fiercely independent leader, a kind-hearted friend, and a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, Nana, aunt, great-aunt, and great-great aunt, whose exuberant legacy will persist eternally.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran's memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B 102, Danvers, MA 01923. Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave., ARLINGTON, on Saturday from 8:30 - 9:30 am.
