In Our Care

Faith Eleanor O'Brien, beloved daughter, sister, niece, grand daughter and cousin, passed away peacefully at Boston Children's Hospital on March 19, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Faith, or "Faithy girl" as she was known to her family and friends, was born to Ellen and John O'Brien on December 10, 2005 with an "other worldly" sweetness, called down syndrome. She also had a touch of autism and attended North River Collaborative since 2010.

Faith achieved many developmental milestones at NRC, such as learning to communicate non-verbally and eating. It was because of her loving teachers and therapists who believed in her and enabled her to thrive. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Some of Faith's favorite pastimes included going to the beach and tossing rocks, going for boat rides, swinging on her swing and climbing. Faith loved riding on her tandem bicycle around the neighborhood and seeing her lovely neighbors who nicknamed her and her mom, "The pink ladies" because they wore the color pink often. This always made Faith giggle. She loved music and dancing her signature dance moves. Most of all, Faith loved going on go cart rides with her wonderful brother, Brosnan. He always made her smile.

Faith is a warrior and has conquered many health challenges throughout her entire life, the main one being kidney failure in 2008. She persevered through a year of dialysis prior to receiving a kidney transplant in 2009, which her father, John donated to her.

She has been followed closely by Boston Children's Hospital's Renal department for the past 15 years, whose support, guidance and incomparable care gave Faith the beautiful life she has had, and we, as her parents will always be grateful to them.

In 2022, Faith was diagnosed with cancer and received exceptional care at the Jimmy Fund Clinic. We are incredibly grateful to all of her oncology doctors and nurses for taking such good care of her.

To all of Faith's physicians, nurses, teachers and therapists who have participated in the care and wellbeing of our Faithygirl, we are forever grateful and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Faith has been a blessing and an inspiration to everyone who has known her. She has shared an unspoken love that came straight from her heart. She has taught us all what is important in life. Her time here on earth was an angelic mission, one in which we are eternally grateful for.

Faith is survived by her father, John O'Brien, her mother, Ellen O'Brien and her brother, Brosnan O'Brien, all of Plympton, MA.

Please join our family on Thursday March 23, at 1 p.m. to celebrate her life with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Holy Family Church 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA.

For those desiring to honor Faith's life please feel free to make a memorial donation to your choice of charity.
