Blizzard, Dorothea Maringas, 91, of Largo, Florida, passed away after a brief illness on December 18, 2020 in Clearwater, Florida. Dottie was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 14, 1929, the daughter of Greek immigrants, the late Harry and Paraskevi (Patros) Maringas. She and her four siblings were raised on their parents' chicken farm in Franklin, Massachusetts, where she relished fresh produce from their land and especially her mother's Greek specialties and pies. Dottie graduated as valedictorian of her class from Franklin High School and earned a degree in journalism from Boston University. She married her beloved husband, the late John Blizzard, on April 25, 1953, and they spent time and lived together in Boston, Provincetown, and Tucson before his untimely passing in 1972. Later in life, Dottie earned a law degree from Boston University with a specialty in taxation. She was a long-time employee as the head of the finance department for the Dean at Harvard Medical School, where she worked until her retirement. Dottie was a photography enthusiast and always seemed to have her Polaroid camera on hand to capture special family memories, including those with her much-loved dogs. She was also a traveler with a penchant for visiting museums all over the world. Dottie was energetic and quick-witted and will be missed by those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her brother Nick (Lana) Maringas of Largo, FL; sister-in-law Angela Maringas of Bad Axe, MI and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Maringas of Bad Axe, MI; sister Helen Louvitakis of East Longmeadow, MA; and brother George Maringas of Franklin, MA. Dottie will be interred at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA.
