Delfina Della Penna (Scirpo) of Watertown, MA born on November 26th, 1929 in Tripoli, Libya, passed away on August 25th, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Orlando “Del” Della Penna. Loving mother to Rosemary Newton and her husband Ronald Newton of Newton, MA, Ellie Della Penna and her partner Denise Ambrosi of Malden, MA, John Della Penna of Lynn, MA, and Sandra Della Penna and her partner Bret Barringer of Bellingham, MA. Cherished grandmother to Renee Newton and her husband Tom Corley and Michelle Newton. Dear great grandmother to T-Ray, Lux, Stelle, Roux and Wells. Sister to the late Paolo Scirpo and his wife Zenaide and the late Sandro Scripo and his wife Rosetta. Delfina was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Delfina met her husband while he was stationed overseas. Del swept her off her feet and they married and moved to the United States where they raised their family and eventually settled in Watertown, MA. Delfina possessed a quiet strength and a gentle soul. Her smile could light up the room. Family was at the center of all that she enjoyed. She was a loving mother who had a passion for cooking, beach vacations, and teaching her family Italian expressions.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the Meadow Green Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Waltham, MA for the outstanding care and TLC that they provided to Delfina.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home 761 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown, MA on Tuesday August 31st from 2 – 4 pm for a Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in memory of Delfina to the Alzheimer’s Association.
