In Our Care

David C.F. Hung
November 29, 1942 – March 5, 2022
David C.F. Hung of Arlington passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after battling kidney cancer for a year and a half. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary of Arlington and their three children, Tom Hung and wife Karen, of Dallas, Texas, Kristine Barton and husband Kevin of Medfield, MA and Bill Hung and wife Isabel of Westwood, MA and 7 grandchildren, Sophie, Alex, Kaitlyn, Alexis, Tim, Ben and Zach.
David emigrated from Shanghai, China in mid 60’s to New York City’s Chinatown. He worked in the restaurant industry while going to school to get his engineering degrees. It was in New York City that he met his wife, Mary and they moved to Arlington, MA in 1975 to raise their family. For 12 years, he owned and operated two restaurants in Cambridge before switching professions to work for an engineering company. However, David’s greatest joy in life was Mary, his wife of 54 years and the family they raised together. He was a man of few words, and the phrase “actions speak louder than words” never rang more true than with David. He put his family above all else and loved being an integral part of their daily lives as chef, chauffeur, handyman, and babysitter. He would always volunteer to cook dinner for them, fix broken things around their houses, drive the grandkids to various activities, and babysit. David was well known for his talents in the kitchen and would cook at all the holidays. His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving because it was a time for everyone to be together and he loved watching his family enjoy the meal that he prepared. He is affectionately loved and will be sorely missed by all.
