Cynthia G. Thompson, a resident of Cambridge, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023 at the age of 74. She was born April 22, 1949 as the youngest child of George R. and Beatryce (Gordon) Thompson in Kenmore, New York.

Cindy is survived by her beloved dog, Mia, her sister, Joan (Denis) Leonard of Rapid City, South Dakota, several nieces and nephews, and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Rev. Spencer Thompson, and her partner while in Colorado, Ross Smith.

Some of Cindy's favorite memories were from her time living with her sister and family while she attended Jamestown Community College in New York. She went on to earn her Master of Education at the University of Buffalo (Reading Specialist/Education) and later a second Master of Education (Administration, Planning and Social Policy in Higher Education) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She loved reading and teaching reading.

After the University of Buffalo, Cindy moved to Colorado where she served as a college instructor at Arapahoe Community College for several years, followed by some time teaching at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She later moved to Massachusetts to attend Harvard where she loved being a part of the Cambridge community.

Throughout her life, Cindy was a devoted pet owner to both dogs (especially Cavalier King Charles Spaniels) and cats. She enjoyed connecting with people as she walked her dog through her neighborhood. Cindy was a wonderful friend who valued the many friendships she built throughout her lifetime.

There is no memorial service planned. If desired, you could honor Cindy's life by spending some time enjoying a good book.
