Catherine “Kay” (Sullivan) Hart, 94, of Farmington, Arkansas, former longtime resident of Arlington, MA died peacefully on August 28. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved children, Franklin J. Hart and Donna E. Hart, and late husband Franklin R. Hart. She is survived by her children Richard Hart and wife Ying Hart of Stoneham, MA; Darlene Hart and husband George Allen of Farmington, AR; Deirdre Butts of Marlborough, MA; George Hart of Marysville, CA; grandchildren Jennifer, Megan, Samantha, Nicole, Franklin, Brendan, Tara; five great-grandchildren; and many relatives, cousins, and friends.
Kay was born on the 4th of July, a badge she wore proudly. She was raised in Malden before settling down in Arlington, where she raised her 6 children and lived over 60 years.
Kay was a staple of the Cambridge Marriott family for over 25 years, working proudly from her perch at the Giftshop. Her loving, spirited disposition led to many lasting friendships with coworkers and guests, whom she referred to as “loves”.
She was known for her quick wit, her bold and fun-loving attitude for life, and her genuine care for others.
Kay’s compassion extended to her civic duties. She was a founding member and volunteer at CASPAR (Cambridge And Somerville Programs for Addiction Recovery). She adored animals and donated to wildlife conservation efforts.
Kay was the “hart” and soul of her family and will be missed tremendously.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Mass. Ave., Arlington on Friday September 9th from 4:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Camillus Church on Saturday September 10th at 10:00am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in Catherine's name may be made to a charity of your choice.
