In Our Care
Born in Arlington, MA on May 23, 1934, Carol Ann Coyne Clarke was the daughter of Michael and Evelyn Coyne. She died suddenly on January 14, 2022. Predeceased by her parents and her husband, Thomas P. Clarke, she is survived by her brother Paul Coyne of Santa Barbara, CA. and sister, Priscilla Peterson of Williamsburg, VA., and many nieces and nephews.
Carol graduated from St. Johns High School in Cambridge, and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. She worked as an Executive Secretary for F.W. Derbyshire in Waltham before her marriage. During her life, Carol very much enjoyed her home on Elmore Street for 46 years, its flower garden, her helpful neighbors, especially Malcolm Hamilton, coastal beaches, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and her cats. She loved gathering with her HS friends, beloved Aunts Mary, Peggy, and May, the Coyne and Sellers cousins, and traveling to Europe in 1960, and spending time with her dear friend Millie Venesi. She always liked playing cards, in her Aunt Peggy’s Bridge group, teaching games to nieces, and solitaire. During her last years, she resided at Sunrise of Arlington, participated in Rosary, enjoyed watching birds and bike riders in fine weather, and was always pleasant to residents and staff. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Because of Covid and travel concerns, only a gravesite Burial service is planned. That will be Friday, January 21, 11am at Mt.Pleasant cemetery, 70 Medford St., Arlington. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to donate it will be very appreciated at St. Agnes Church, 51 Medford St. or to the Arlington Robbins Library.
