Obituary For Samuel J. Boike Sr.
Boike, Samuel J., of Medford, formerly of Arlington, on May 20th. A WWII Army Veteran and former Detective Lieutenant of the Massachusetts State Police. Beloved husband of 73 years of marriage to the late Antoinette D. (DiIulio). Loving father of Samuel J. Jr., and wife Elaine of Northborough, Joseph J. and wife Mary of Arlington and Karen O'Connor and husband Tom of Arlington. Proud grandfather of Joseph J. Jr., Catherine, Brian, Nolan, Ryan, Brendan, David, Marialena and the late Cameron. Also survived by 9 great grandchildren. Samuel was raised in Cambridge, and moved to Somerville in the late 1950's and then later to Arlington in 1965. He was appointed as a Police Officer in Somerville in 1953 and he was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1968. In 1972 he transferred to the Massachusetts State Police and he was promoted to the rank of Detective Lieutenant Inspector. He retired from the Massachusetts State Police in 1990. He was a career law enforcement officer, serving for 37 years. Relatives and friends are invited to visit in the DeVito Funeral Home 1145 Mass. Ave., ARLINGTON on Tuesday June 7th from 10:00 - 11:00 am and to his funeral mass at 11:30 am in St. Agnes Church. Burial with military honors to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Ethel Toner and Gerry Leech
So many happy memories with Toni and Sam. They were the couple to look up to with their devotion to each other. Sam is now with Toni and that is a happy memory for his family.
