Obituary For Marie A. Krepelka

Krepelka, Marie A. (Spelman) of Arlington passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Robert F. Krepelka and mother of Paul M. Krepelka and Stephen T. Krepelka and his wife Heather all of Arlington. She was the proud grandmother of Madeline, Julia, and Isabelle. Sister of Paul T. Spelman and the late Joan Dusoe. She is survived by many nieces and nephews that she adored as well as legions of cherished long time friends.

Born to Thomas and Mary Spelman, Marie called Arlington home for her entire life. Affectionately known as “The Mayor" of Arlington, Marie worked in various roles for the town (Select Board Administrator since 2001) for 63 years – a feat that will likely never be surpassed. She was fiercely loyal and proud of her community. Marie maintained a wealth of institutional and historical knowledge of Arlington; which she shared with all her constituents. She served the town with her own personal dignified style and brought a warm caring presence to town hall. Simply put; Marie made Arlington a better place for everyone.

Marie’s favorite day of the year was Arlington’s Annual Town Day, which she chaired for many years. On that day, she could watch the entire Arlington community come together as one and celebrate the home that she loved.

Marie was an ardent supporter of the Arlington Fire Department, Arlington Police Department, Arlington Boys and Girls Club and numerous Catholic Charities.

She will be missed by many but will never be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Marie. I worked in Arlington for a number of years and Marie was always friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond for the Arlington Community. Marie's Family, I am very sorry for your loss. Marie was a classmate of mine, the class of 1957 at Arlington High School. She was a great person and everyone's friend. She continued those values for the rest of her life. She was always there to give a helping hand to anyone whom needed it. She was always at all reunions to help and to be with her fellow classmates. No more suffering, but she will never be forgotten for all she did for the Town of Arlington. She will always be in your heart. Love and Prayers, A Classmate

Marie was a delight. I first met her while teaching at Arlington High & researching town information. Later as a volunteer on the Dallin Museum Committee, Marie offered help and advised us on how to proceed as a new town entity. Marie was always kind, patient and informative, a great asset to the Board of Selectmen and to the Town. Marie will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. May she rest in peace. Geri Tremblay, President Cyrus Dallin Art Museum.

Marie was a kind, friendly and wonderful woman. She always had a smile on her face. I used to love to hear the stories she spoke of about her and my dad's childhood. She always made people laugh. Rest in Peace Marie. You will be missed by so many.

Growing up in Arlington and being active in Arlington politics, one of the most recognizable faces in town was Marie's. She was always a joy. Her love of Arlington radiated in everything she did from town day to a 60 plus year career in town government. Marie was always a constant at town hall, and part me never thought there would be a day she wouldn't be there with a warm greeting when I vested. My prayers to her family, and also to our beloved hometown for the loss of a dedicate townie. Arlington will never be the same without its unofficial Mayor. Sean Harrington

My deepest sympathy to Marie's family. I share your loss, as I have lost my good friend and neighbor. She was always there to help everyone. Her love and commitment to the Town of Arlington will never be duplicated. We take solace in that her long suffering has ended and she rejoices in her reunion with her beloved Chuck, parents and sister Joan. With love, Anna-Marie

I met Marie and Chuck when my family moved into her neighborhood. I was soon brought under her wing and helped with babysitting her two young boys. She was like a mom to me teaching and helping me as I went through the teen years. She was the guest of honor at my wedding and I stayed in touch with her through the years. Loved her 🙂 She will be truly missed. Heaven just received a new angel! Cynthia Farrell (Lewko)

Paul, Stephen & family...words cannot express what you are dealing with loss of mom. Marie was a gem! Marie great influence in my life. Marie always upbeat & positive woman. Marie never complained. Marie would confine in me certain ailments she dealt with but always said to me "I'll get through this why bother her boys". I fondly remember our Kittery trips to buy whatever she thought Maddie, Julia or Izzy needed. We had wonderful times playing cribbage. I didn't even mind getting skunked. It was joy being around Marie & I'll miss her. Marie finally @ peace. Love Mary

Marie was truly one of the most kind hearted women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Growing up in Arlington I had the privilege of being coached by her son Paul and then I got to coach her granddaughters in ice hockey. She was always their biggest supporter. Marie was there for anybody who needed her and she took such pride in her major supportive role in the town of Arlington. Marie will be missed by so many people but her kind heart and active involvement in the town will truly leave her NEVER forgotten. Rest in peace Marie ❤️
