Obituary For Gary D. Schwartz

Schwartz, Gary D. of Arlington, passed away on March 13th. Gary led an active and varied life. He was active with the Appalachian Mountain Club, leading many trips and taught classes on winter backpacking. He also published and edited the AMC, Boston Chapter newsletter.

He was an active Repeated Amateur Radio operator and through his membership in the Wellesley Amateur Radio Society, he volunteered in many large events such as the Head of the Charles Regatta, the Walk for Hunger, and the Boston Marathon, including the 2013 Boston Marathon. He was known by the handle N1ZCE. He used his considerable skills in the direct service of people.

He was also a member of Mensa.

In his earlier years, he was an Emergency Medical Technician, serving on both ambulances and chair cars.

He used his computer skills to work as a Reporting Analyst at the Boston Medical Center.

Gary is predeceased by both his parents, Jack and Joan Schwartz. He is survived by his sister Linda Schwartz and his longtime girlfriend, Nancy Levin.
