Francisco Jose Hernandez, age 69, of El Salvador, Cambridge and Revere was a much beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and godparent. He passed away on January 22, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Francisco was the youngest son of Jose Salome and Zoila Hernandez. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicky, his daughters Alejandra and Gabriela, his sons in law, Keith and James, his grandchildren, Sebastian and Sienna, whom he adored, and his three siblings, Magda, Julio, and Patricia.

Francisco graduated from the University of El Salvador with a degree in Business Administration and moved to Cambridge in 1990 to pursue better opportunities for his family. He was a devoted family man, and one of the original “girl dads,” beaming with pride at the athletic, artistic or academic accomplishments of his daughters.

Francisco was an avid sports fan and loved playing and watching basketball. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Celtics and enjoyed watching soccer from across the world. In 1993, he created an amateur soccer league called Liga Limas de Fútbol. He was incredibly proud of his Salvadoran culture and heritage and would freely talk history or politics with any captive audience.

He loved road trips and opted for long car rides over air travel. Even more than travel, he loved good music, great parties, dancing, good food and telling jokes. His love for life and innate human connection will be missed by the hundreds of friends and family around the world, whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the DeVito Funeral Home 1145 Mass. Ave., ARLINGTON on Thursday from 10 am - 1 pm followed by a funeral procession to Newton Cemetery for a graveside service to begin at approximately 1:30 pm.
