Obituary For Elaine J. McGuinn

Elaine McGuinn, 79, of Belmont, MA, died of Alzheimers disease and related health complications on November 18, 2022. Born December 26, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Grimes and Marie McTaggart. Elaine was married for 50 years to the late Francis X. McGuinn.

Elaine grew up in a rowhouse in Philadelphia, PA with her older sister and two rambunctious brothers. The four siblings shared many laughs and a great amount of connection and love over her lifetime. Elaine was a dedicated student at Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls, receiving a perfect attendance award, even attending school with broken bones to maintain that record. She continued her education at Atlantic Community College of New Jersey, graduating on the same night as her daughter’s junior prom. Her graduation was on a busy day, but still she hosted a celebration for both events, a testament of her commitment of being surrounded by friends and family. Elaine was great with numbers and organization, making her an excellent employee in payroll positions. In Brigantine, New Jersey, Elaine and her late husband Frank lovingly raised their only child, Jennifer. Elaine deeply enjoyed her family, friends, laughing, dancing and trying new things. She was an avid traveler, gardener, decorator, hostess, shopper and exerciser.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Jennifer of Arlington, MA; son-in-law, Scot Mente; and two grandchildren, Julia and Elena. Siblings: Alice Donnelly of Westmont, NJ; Gerald Grimes of Marmora, NJ; Benjamin Grimes of Glen Mills, PA

Elaine, Frank and their dog Wilbur’s ashes will be spread in the back bay of Brigantine on June 24, 2023. Reception to follow.

Remember the good time I had when Elaine, Frank, and Billy came down to visit me in Sea Isle and stayed for lunch
