Condolence From: Claire Doyle
Condolence: I was just starting to form my first memories when I started off at Martha's daycare. My few recollections remind me of how inviting, fun and comfortable it was, even for the easily-intimidated child I was. I am so grateful for the nurturing, communal environment she fostered, for her gentle care and warmth. It was a blessing for me and my brother to have time with her, and at such a formative stage of life. I send my condolences to Robert and to the rest of her family. She will be in my thoughts.

Condolence From: Anne Doyle
Condolence: When we moved to Arlington in 1994 and looked for a caregiver for our son, Martha’s home day care stood out for its warm, family-like atmosphere. Our son thrived in the playful, easy going environment Martha created for those lucky enough to be entrusted to her. Our daughter came along a year later, and she too blossomed in Martha’s nurturing home. There were always hands-on projects, field trips to the playground, story-telling, sing-alongs, and other wonderful opportunities to build on the children’s imagination and bring them joy, whether they were newborns, pre-kindergartners or in-between. Their big smiles, which you can see in the pictures uploaded in the memories section of the website, speak for themselves. Martha’s loving home made our family feel welcome in Arlington, and I, for one, feel indebted to her and her family for all the time and blessings they shared with us, which as a young inexperienced stressed working parent, I didn’t fully appreciate until much later. Barry, Abbey, Libby and Patrick, we are deeply saddened by your loss. Your family is in our prayers.

Condolence From: Michael Brooks
Condolence: Martha and her family were our fine neighbors for 30 years. She helped raise our children as well as many others in her day care. She fought for equal opportunities in many areas, ran for the schoolboard and represented her town. She always had a smile and a sense of humor after her stroke. We will always love you in remembrance.

Condolence From: Donna & David Moultrup
Condolence: Our hearts go out to Barry, Libby, Abbey and all of the extended family. Martha took care of my two daughters when they were in elementary school, allowing me to work. Her daughters and mine had Girl Scouts together and Martha and I, along with several other moms, ran scout troops for many years. Martha has always fought the good fight, including these last two years of illness and disability. It was great to work with her and an honor to know her.
