O'Brien Robert T., "OBie" of Woburn formerly of Belmont on April 21. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor E. (Piantedosi) O'Brien of 62 years. Devoted father of Doreen O'Brien of Woburn and the late Joseph James O'Brien and his wife Lori of Bennington, NH. Grandfather of Christine Myhaver and her husband Christopher of Hillsboro, NH, Kathleen O’Brien and partner Darren Henry of Collinsville, IL, Jaimie O'Brien and partner Garrett Cassidy of Hancock, NH and Ashleigh O'Brien and partner Richard Cote of Bennington, NH. Great grandfather of Cyril, Fergus, and Esca Myhaver and Izzabell O’Brien. Brother of Thomas, Eleanor Blanco and the late Lawrence, Bernice Melanson and Carole McDonough. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born in Medford on April 13, 1932 to the late Joseph and Helen (Greland) O’Brien and raised in and around South Boston. He served in the US Army from 1952-1954 in the Battery B 123rd FA Battalion, 44th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He worked at Giordano Brothers, Watertown MA for 32 years as an auto mechanic and then as a custodian at the Wellington School in Belmont. Upon his retirement from the Wellington School he became a “Classroom Grandfather” and enjoyed working with the first and second graders on their reading skills. Funeral from The DeVito Funeral Home 761 Mt. Auburn St., WATERTOWN Friday morning at 8am, followed by a funeral mass at 9am in St. Patrick Parish, Watertown. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
